Abstract

The ethos corresponds to the image that the speaker wants to reflect about himself throughout his speech, and the image that the audience can get before his speech. That’s why the ethos is considerd a very important factor for the politician to convince people about his ideas and beliefs. Each candidate may establish, in his mission of statement, one or more political ethos according to his electoral goal. In this article we seek, through the analysis of mission of statement of the candidates of the National Front, respectively participating in the French presidential elections in 2007 and 2012 to understand whether the strategies in the construction of ethos of the two candidates are the same or different.
