Abstract
This paper offers a highly complete biography of Moles as well as an analysis of his scientific work. A physicist at the beginning of his career, Moles' first works were devoted to acoustics. This leads him to focus on the concept of the object as a vector for communication. Correlatively, he worked out the basic notion of vicarial experience. Studying relationships between information theory andaesthetical perception, he proposed to bridge the disciplinary fields of psychology, information and communication. He is recognised as having strongly contributed to ground social psychology of communication and micropsychology.
