Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility is now en vogue in Brazil. The country is at the beginning of a New Era after a devastating crisis of ethics, both in its economic and political system. Many convictions of criminal politicians and business-“leaders” have set the tone for a more critical public that does not tolerate self-enrichment of a few at the cost of many any longer. Processes of the implementation of concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility can take advantage of this new dynamic and of the setting that it creates. Brazilians might be more aware of the need for sustainable behavior then ever—and appreciate corporate players being good examples. The chapter gives an overview over the current situation. The authors also risk an outlook on how CSR in Brazil might develop.
