Abstract

On his Essays Michel de Montaigne takes his own self like his main topic. Often he considers his writing an exercise creating a picture of himself in order to study his own life in this picture. In this way Montaignes’s writing is a kind of picture that could be called a self-portrait. If that is true, we can say that his writing does not only take a theoretical character, but has a vital value.
