Abstract

This introductory chapter briefly discusses the rhetoric surrounding the humanities currently, such as the decimation of humanities majors and programs at colleges and universities across the country. The age of the Alt-Right is also discussed, especially as it pertains to the election of Donald Trump. This chapter concludes by drawing a relationship between this age of the Alt-Right and the dismissal of the humanities overall.
