Dall'intuizione alla figura. Il "discorso sul metodo" bergsoniano

Abstract

Although there are many studies focused on the role of images in Bergson’s work, few of them try to outline the relationship between the notion of image (as it emerges from Matter and memory and other essays) and his use of images understood as figures of speech. In order to outline Bergson’s hypothesis on language, this paper tries to delineate this relationship by means of the notions of metaphor and metonymy, advancing the hypothesis that the connection is possible only if we consider as metonymies some figures of speech in his texts usually considered as metaphors
