Abstract

This chapter considers four types of engagement with Marxism by theologians and religiously committed people: those who reject Marxism and socialism as antithetically opposed to religion; those who use Marxist economic and social analysis to identify problems, but keep the solution for religion; those who see a fusion between the two; and those who take a more dialectical approach in which Marxism and theology are vigorous but distinct interlocutors.
