Polylingual education: foreign experience in implementing multilingualism in the studying process

Abstract

The article presents the definition of polylingual education, aсcepted in the scientific and expert community abroad. The positive practices of multilingual education in Europe are summarized on the basis of the analysis of the project of European centre for modern languages of the Council of Europe, allowing to assess adequately the significance of the transformation of the language policy of the Russian Federation, using the experience of European countries in the development of polylingual personality. Arguments are given regarding the prospects for the development of multilingual education in Russia, and one of the possible models for its implementation in higher education is proposed.
