Abstract

In the light of Lacanian psychoanalysis and through elaborating a set of concrete examples in the scholarly literature, this article singles out two logics of enjoyment circulating in the discursive realm of the tabloid. Particular emphasis will be put on the one of these, the perverse logic of enjoyment, which can allow us to better captured the predatory journalistic strategy that, by its strange peculiarity and elusiveness, has encouraged scholarly experts in popular cultural and media studies to admit the difficulties and insufficiencies in its current explanation. In addition, I will also flesh out four privileged discursive routes constantly travelled by tabloid discourse, which make possible this perverse logic of enjoyment
