Abstract

Giorgio Agamben is one of the most famous contemporary political philosophers. Lately Agamben has conducted his political investigation drawing on the history of some theological concepts. From a methodological point of view, in his theological reflections Agamben makes use of philosophical tools forged in his earlier linguistics writings. In his theological books, however, Agamben has talked rarely about language. Yet, there he also adds something to his own understanding of language that somehow contrasts to what he claims in his earlier writings. For this reason there is a need of a historical and theoretical introduction to Agamben’s reflections on theology with particular regard to his previous philosophy of language.
