Abstract

This paper suggests differentiating the issues of cause and determination when thinking about the subject. The idea is to address a certain concern about the place of the human within the current discourse of science, which seeks to integrate it into the field of natural objects. Before this «biological prejudice*, psychoanalysis proposes an innovative conception of causality, according to which the cause stems from the way the subject places itself in front of determinations, avoiding their imperative. Symptom appears as a resource of the subject and a way of understanding such avoidance.
