Abstract
This chapter discusses the factors that affect ability to perceive spatial relations in the visual world. These include the nature of light, image-forming characteristics of the eye, photochemical changes within the receptors, transformation of the photochemical reactions into neural activity in the receptors, and analysis of the receptor output by neural networks in the retina and cortex.
