Abstract

Procuraremos aqui expor a meditação de José Marinho sobre a relação entre Filosofia e Religião, assunto sobre o qual Marinho se debruçou ao longo de toda a sua vida. Tal o que procuraremos aqui verificar, atentando sobretudo numa sua obra intitulada Significado e Valor da Metafísica, redigida ainda entre os últimos anos da década de trinta e os primeiros da década seguinte, mas só mais recentemente publicada, a obra em que, a nosso ver, Marinho mais expressamente expôs a sua visão dessa relação: urna visão singular no pensamento português contemporâneo, dada a sua agudeza e complexidade. Here we seek to expose the meditation of José Marinho on the relationship between philosophy and religion, a subject upon which he leaned over his life. For that, we use especially his work Meaning and Value of Metaphysics, still couched between the late thirties and early forties of the last century, although only recently published. In our view, it is in that work that Marinho more explicitly set out his vision of the relationship between philosophy and religion: a singular vision in contemporary Portuguese thought, given its complexity and sharpness
