Abstract

The article tries to get the main changes that have occurred to psychoanalysis since its birth and its future tendencies. In particular, it advances the argument that pathologies and therapies are rapidly changing. Actually, the late modernity imposes a more and more frantic way of life and fragile interpersonal relations. The focal point of the «civilization’s discontent» is the difficulty to define one’s own identity, because of the lack of any stable frame of reference. Therefore the classical methodology seems ineffective and it must be implemented with creative, artistical and mitopoietical expressions, which enable the individual to build rather than re-build his own history
