Abstract

This articles starts with the thesis developed by Ugo Perone that the secularization of modern societies doesn’t mean their loss of religion. Following Perone the challenge of theology and philosophy as well is to defend religion as belonging to the human existence. Referring to different other contemporary thinkers this article shows that an anthropological understanding of religion realizes that the finite human existence cannot find meaning without its religious self-interpretation. The final intention of the article is to support Ugo Perones argumentation that a consistent thinking of the human finitude leads at the end to the recognition that God is missing.
