Kondo scaling in the optical response of YbIn 1-x Ag x Cu 4

Abstract

The Kondo scaling in the infrared-frequency optical response measurments of the correlated system YbIn1-xAgxCu4 was discussed. It was observed that the x-dependent variations in the frequency and strength of a low energy excitation were related to the x-dependent kondo temperature. The appearance of a distinct feature in the midinfrared conductivity was found in low temperature YbInCu4, where kondo scale was large. It was suggested that similar midinfrared features found in other heavy fermion materials were a manifestation of local moment phenomena.
