Agriculture in Sangam Literature and the Contemporary Trend

Abstract

In this review article, The agricultural thought of the Sangam scholars has been compared with the contemporary agricultural thought. In it, the need to restore the lifestyle of our ancestors in harmony with nature and to conserve the resources of soil, water and air are described. For that proper understanding of agriculture, awareness should be created among the youth. The situation is described where the farmers are slowly losing their individuality due to natural disasters and systematic bureaucratic neglect. The pain and anguish of the farmers should be felt and instructed to the modern youth. If the traditional traditions and modern techniques of farming are combined and plowed without laziness, then the farming industry will become a profession that the world admires. This article points out that we all need to change our minds and has pointed out that the amicable work of the farmers of the Sangam period will be useful to the world.
