Abstract

This essay analyses the foundation and argumentation of franz brentano's ethics. the reflections center around the question whether the ideas, which brentano developed on the problems of ethics, agree with his own scientific principles. evidence and experience, on which brentano bases his thoughts, represent the leading ideas of the inquiry. it shall be examined whether the "greatest good" is evident and how far experience testifies for this ethical law which is supposed to be generally acceptable and irrefutable.
