Some aspects of crisis communication

Abstract

The main features of political communication in the conditions of crisis are researched. The main measures of crisis management in information sphere are described. The influence of the Internet on political processes in the modern world is considered. The aim of the paper is to explore the basic laws of crisis communication at this stage, in particular, to find the peculiarities of crisis management as a direct PR crisis at various stages of the process. Management of crisis communication in the information society is a key factor to minimize the negative effects of the crisis and successfully overcome it. The purpose of crisis communication is to maintain the existence of the communicator and the recipient in power. The use of communication technologies can be directed as to overcome the effects of the crisis and their gain. The consequence of this «destructive» communication can become political scandals that lead to delegitimize the government. Communication at each stage of the crisis process involves strategic and tactical measures. A special channel of communication is the Internet, main feature of which are the global character, information exchange in real time, the dominance of English information flows. The global network can contribute to solving the crisis, and perhaps impede. Another phenomenon is the social network with which in recent years large groups of people are mobilized. Thus, the role of social networks as a means of political communication in a crisis may be the subject of further research.
