Abstract

John Lubbock was a 19th century banker, archeologist, naturalist, and politician. This book contains a collection of talks given at school and college occasions. Lubbock begins by saying that life is a gift and we must seriously consider what the main object of our existence will be. Topics covered are: The Blessing of Friends, The Choice of Books, The Value of Time, The Pleasure of Travel, Beauty of Nature, Labor and Rest, and others.
