A New Edition Of Valerio Verra’s Writings On Johann Gottfried Herder
Abstract
The starting point of this survey of Valerio Verra’s work on Herder is a collection of his studies on the German philosopher. After a preliminary analysis of the criteria followed by the editors and some remarks on other contributions not included in this volume, the author points out Verra’s methodical and interpretative innovations through a comparison with the approaches of his contemporaries . Finally, through an analysis of the historical and theoretical conditions of Verra’s work , and in view of the most advanced Herder-Forschung of our times, the author distinguishes within Verra’s interpretation those elements which are still vital from those which appear outdated
