Abstract

After a millennial history of converting the energy of finitude into technocratic power over nature, revelations of the Anthropocene in today’s world invite us to rediscover the meaning and the ethical fruitfulness lying within that which limits human power: our vulnerability, our mortality. But to recultivate this in a poetics of finitude requires the criticism and the deconstruction of the representations of the man-machine. In a senseless headlong rush they claim to liberate human beings definitively from their finite existence.
