Abstract

This is a comprehensively edited reissue of a self-published book, which was partly based on a dissertation I completed in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge many years ago. The book was intended as a personal project to make sense of my own philosophical thinking, rather than as something that would be of interest to the wider academic community. Sometimes philosophy can be done just to fulfil a personal need. I doubt it contains anything that would be of interest to anyone, but I have archived it here in case of curiosity.
