Abstract
This essay examines the role of Nature Religions in addressing the profound ecological and social crises of the Anthropocene. Arguing that environmental destruction and systemic injustice demand revolutionary transformation, it explores how spiritual frameworks grounded in reverence for the natural world can catalyze both personal and societal change. The work develops a practical theology of social activism rooted in the principles of Nature Religions, particularly naturalistic approaches like Dionysian Naturalism. It outlines a cycle of praxis—action and reflection—that integrates spiritual practices such as prophecy, contemplation, and sacred rituals with strategic direct actions aimed at fostering ecological consciousness and social justice. The essay critiques modernity’s anthropocentrism and materialism, proposing a shift toward an "enchanted naturalism" that recognizes the Earth as a sacred, interconnected system. By reclaiming the sacred journey and drawing from the Western Mystery Traditions, the work envisions a revolutionary spirituality that aligns with the rhythms of nature while empowering communities to build sustainable and equitable futures. Through this synthesis of spirituality and activism, it argues for a global ethic of care that reaffirms our belonging within the web of life.
