Previous chapter At the end of the 19th century, the University of Leipzig became a kind of Mecca for the theory of rhythm. Wundt had been offered a position as soon as 1875 and had opened in 1879 his laboratory of experimental psychology, the head of which he remained until his retirement in 1917.
