Abstract

ABSTRACT The poetic interpretation of the symbolism of sacred places is a significant theme in the study of Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage, including its literature. This research aims to analyse the literary techniques and linguistic tactics through which Kazakhstani writers recreate and illustrate the symbolism and significance of holy sites. The primary method used is analytical, specifically semiotic analysis, formal analysis, and historical-cultural analysis. Other methods employed include comparative, methods of generalisation, and systematisation. The study found that sacred places play a pivotal role in Kazakhstan’s national identification. Their poetic interpretation showcases a complex interweaving of historical memory, cultural traditions, and spiritual values of the Kazakh people. Analysis of literary works revealed that writers actively employ various stylistic and rhythmic techniques to convey the unique significance of these places. Metaphors, allegories, symbols, repetitions, and other linguistic tools are most commonly used to craft a multi-layered image of a sacred site.
