Abstract

A lo largo del siglo XIX en los Estados Unidos se firmaron una importante cantidad de tratados orientados a regular los asuntos relativos a la ocupación y posesión de las tierras ocupadas por los pueblos indígenas. En el presente ensayo se analizaran las ideas subyacentes a la generación de esta serie de tratados, intentando explicar cuáles fueron las lógicas que auspiciaron y justificaron la conquista de las tierras indígenas a partir de este tipo de instrumentos. Así mismo, se profundizará el caso específico del pueblo Cheyenne durante el período correspondiente a 1825-1861, discutiendo la relación entre los tratados de Fort Laramie y Fort Wise y su vinculación con la conocida masacre de Sand Creek. Along the 19th century in the United States an important quantity of agreements was signed orientated to "regulating" the matters relative to the occupation and possession of the lands occupied by the indigenous peoples. This essay is to analyze the underlying ideas to the generation of this series of treaties, trying to explain were the logics that supported and justified the conquest of the indigenous lands from this type of instruments. Also, there will be deepened the specific case of the people Cheyenne during the corresponding period to 1825-1861, discussing the relation between the agreements of Fort Laramie and Fort Wise and his entail with Sand Creek's known massacre.
