Replies to Evan Fales: On Fulfilled Prophecy As Miracle
Abstract
Mainstream biblical studies are so dominated by Hume’s dictum--prefer any explanation to a miracle--that virtually any theory will be accepted, no matter how farfetched. Examples are given. But supposing one would really like to know whether miracles have occurred, fulfilled prophecy is a good place to look, for here one can select examples that appear to be fulfilled long after the latest date the prophecies could have been written. Replies are given to a number of Fales’s objections to the prophecies cited from Daniel, Hosea, Ezekiel, Isaiah and Jeremiah, and especially the Messianic prophecies fulfilled in Jesus
