Abstract

The article aims to understand the relevance of the feeling of fear in Hans Jonas' conception of the ethics of responsibility. To this end, we seek to understand the challenging task of ethics in an era predominantly dominated by science and technology. Then, in a second moment, we analyze the role of the fear heuristic in understanding the ethics of responsibility in Hans Jonas as an indispensable condition for the preservation and protection of life in the common home.
