Abstract
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a very attractive technique for high-data-rate transmission in wireless applications. This system has some drawbacks, one of the main drawbacks of the OFDM technique is its high peak to average power ratio. This problem is complicated because it is generated in time domain. This study proposes a useful information’s which relate the input data and output PAPR as a main aim. This aim is accomplished in use of the mathematical and logical approaches with trial and error to study and analyze the effect of PAPR problem in OFDM system. In this research, we will mainly investigate the advantages and disadvantages of OFDM system and PAPR reduction performance with different PAPR reduction methods in OFDM system. The main objective of this work is to enable researchers entering this field become familiar with the problem as well as the techniques to mitigate this problem. We classify OFDM PAPR methods into three categories: Signal Distortion, Signal Scrambling, and Coding. This review discusses each category and its impact on the transmitter and receiver and summarizes the discussion in a table. We also briefly describe some of the methods used to reduce PAPR in OFDM system.
