Abstract

In this investigation is analyzed the relationship between macroecology and other subdisciplines of ecology in epistemological, ontological and methodological dimensions. Our hypothesis is that it is possible to detect an ontological and epistemological reductive relationship. However, characteristics of this reduction are not clear and we consider that it is necessary to perform new analyses at future in this direction. Finally, we detect important methodological and ontological coincidences between macroecological and physiological subdisciplines
