Identity and Citizenship: Some Contradictions in Practice

Abstract
We argue that many current forms of anti-racist and multicultural teaching, whilst well-intentioned, nevertheless serve to 'fix' identities on children in ways which inhibit their agency and reinforce stereotypes.
