Abstract

Technology has pervaded our lives so much and on so many levels, both explicit and implicit that it has almost become a part of our nature along with culture. To reflect philosophically on the pattern of modern technology tied to its consequences becomes as difficult as making fish realize the presence of surrounding water. The world within which we live, is a world infested with technology and we engage primarily with the world through the medium of technology. This raises ethical, epistemological and on deeper reflection ontological questions. Since the technological world is patterned in a specific way in terms of outward operations and customs playing behind the curtains, to understand and study the significance of technology along with its defining features is an important prerequisite to understand the dynamics of the world we live in and undertake any possible reform of technology in line with principles, values or beliefs other than the modern ones.
