Abstract

@text: The_ Quarterly Journal of Education_ was a pioneering enterprise set up to address the key educational issues of the day. Published in ten volumes from 1830 to 1835, the journal is a treasure trove of articles providing critical evaluations of schools, universities, educational methods and systems, from elementary to university level. A particular feature is the wealth of information provided on educational systems and developments from around the world, including Russia, USA, France, Germany, Norway, Italy, India and eastern Europe. The journal drew upon the support and expertise of many leading academics of the time, whose contributions include articles on discipline in schools, the education of women, infant education, Public Schools including Eton, Harrow, Rugby, education without religious discrimination, and education of the deaf and dumb. The re-issue of this rare and rich resource will be welcomed by libraries and researchers in education, social history and related disciplines
