Abstract

Tradition, heritage, memory, historical consciousness, identity are categories of memory studies, interest in which is constantly growing today. In this article the author attempts to examine the ancient «covenants of the fathers» described by Aristotle in his philosophical and political treatises “Athenian Polity” and “Politics”, in the context of memory studies through the study of the manifestation of “father”s covenants” in collective memory and their role in the formation of identity citizens of the policy.
