Abstract

Drawing up a balance of the first two decades of the «Archivio di storia della cultura», the author recalls the great transformations taking place in contemporary society, which make it necessary a serious rethinking of the 19th- and 20th-century categories. According to the author, the character more and more multilateral and multicultural of the contemporary world imposes a new reflection on “culture”, as the activity of giving a meaning to the particular and infinite segments of life which builds itself on itself. It is in this very reflection that the “Archivio” finds out its own peculiar task and destination
