Abstract

The article is an attempt to present an outline of the left-wing politics, which can be done only through a comparison with the right-wing politics. Both wings are, if taken by themselves, void of any real content and they constitute an antithetical dyad in the political arena. The left and right are in a constant struggle to appropriate discourses and are thus exclusive of each other. The second part presents the origins of this political and ideological rift, by the example of the appropriation of two mythical figures: Che Guevara and Jesus Christ. By showing the dynamics of the constitution of the discourse or the narrative which the signifier 'Left' is carrying, it makes it possible to comprehend the mechanisms of the relationship between the structure of the 'Left' and the individuals in it. This opens up a chance for its re-actualization in the plural society.
