Abstract

A lattice L is split by a pair ha; bi, a; g 2 L i b is the smallest element of the set fx 2 L : x 6 sg or equivalently i = ; and = L. The concept of splitting is due to R. N. McKenzie [2] who characterized splittings of the lattice of all varieties of lattices. In a more general setting the concept was studied by A. Day in [1]. Our aim is to investigate splittings of the lattice of subquasivarieties of a quasivariety
