Abstract

The Huihui [Hui] nationality is one of the members of China's large family of nationalities. The forerunners of this nationality came from Central Asia, Western Asia, Arabia, and Persia. During the Tang dynasty some people from regions in Western Asia and Arabia came via China's southeast and the southern coastal regions to trade in China; others came via the northwest. These were the earliest forebears of people who later became the Huihui nationality, but only a small part of it
