Parameter dependence and outcome dependence in dynamical models for state vector reduction.G. C. Ghirardi, R. Grassi, J. Butterfield & G. N. Fleming - 1993 - Foundations of Physics 23 (3):341-364.
We apply the distinction between parameter independence and outcome independence to the linear and nonlinear models of a recent nonrelativistic theory of continuous state vector reduction. We show that in the nonlinear model there is a set of realizations of the stochastic process that drives the state vector reduction for which parameter independence is violated for parallel spin components in the EPR-Bohm setup. Such a set has an appreciable probability of occurrence (≈ 1/2). On the other hand, the linear model (...)

    Relativistic dynamical reduction models: General framework and examples. [REVIEW]G. C. Ghirardi, R. Grassi & P. Pearle - 1990 - Foundations of Physics 20 (11):1271-1316.
The formulation of a relativistic theory of state-vector reduction is proposed and analyzed, and its conceptual consequences are elucidated. In particular, a detailed discussion of stochastic invariance and of local and nonlocal aspects at the level of individual systems is presented.

  16. Describing the macroscopic world: Closing the circle within the dynamical reduction program. [REVIEW]G. C. Ghirardi, R. Grassi & F. Benatti - 1995 - Foundations of Physics 25 (1):5-38.
With reference to recently proposed theoretical models accounting for reduction in terms of a unified dynamics governing all physical processes, we analyze the problem of working out a worldview accommodating our knowledge about natural phenomena. We stress the relevant conceptual differences between the considered models and standard quantum mechanics. In spite of the fact that both theories describe systems within a genuine Hilbert space framework, the peculiar features of the spontaneous reduction models limit drastically the states which are dynamically stable. Spectacles and Predicaments. [REVIEW]Joseph G. Grassi - 1983 - Review of Metaphysics 36 (3):714-715.
In these essays grouped under the title Spectacles and Predicaments Gellner is doing in social theory what Luigi Pirandello did on the stage, namely, make us involved in the political predicaments of life rather than be a mere observer of the spectacle of politics. The book is divided into three parts: part one is concerned with philosophers and their philosophies by which we interpret humanity; part two deals with the nature of knowledge and its implications; and part three concerns the (...)

Absence of modulatory action on haptic height perception with musical pitch.Michele Geronazzo, Federico Avanzini & Massimo Grassi - 2015 - Frontiers in Psychology 6:139245.
Although acoustic frequency is not a spatial property of physical objects, in common language, pitch, i.e., the psychological correlated of frequency, is often labeled spatially (i.e., “high in pitch” or “low in pitch”). Pitch-height is known to modulate (and interact with) the response of participants when they are asked to judge spatial properties of non-auditory stimuli (e.g., visual) in a variety of behavioral tasks. In the current study we investigated whether the modulatory action of pitch-height extended to the haptic estimation (...)

    Philosophy’s Gaudy Dress.Linda M. G. Zerilli - 2005 - European Journal of Political Theory 4 (2):146-163.
John Locke famously sets the arts of rhetoric at odds with the pursuit of knowledge. Drawing on the work of Ernesto Grassi, this article shows that Locke’s epistemological and political arguments are parasitic on the very tropes and figures he would exclude in any serious discourse. Accordingly, Locke’s attack on the divine right of kings and his famous argument for the social contract is read as exhibiting a rhetorical structure. This structure is crucial to Locke’s critique of heteronomy and (...)
