우리는 역사를 공부하기 이전에 역사가를 먼저 이해해야 하고, 그러기 위해서는 역사가의 생존 당시의 역사적‧사회적 환경을 반드시 알아야만 된다. 그 까닭은 특정 사건을 기록하여 남기는 행위는 그것을 기록하는 사람이 이미 그 시대의 아들임을 고백하는 정신적행위에 해당되기 때문이다. 따라서 우리는 이를 바탕으로 해서 『삼국사기』를 이해하지 않으면 안 된다.BR 역사가가 해야 할 일은 과거의 역사적 사건의 의미를 현재와 미래에 어떻게 되살리고 적용하여 역사의 발전을 이끌 것인가에 초점을 맞추어야 한다. 김부식도 고려의 문화와 정신이 삼국시대의 문화와 정신을 계속 이어가고 있다는 사실을 전제하기에 『삼국사기』를 편찬했을 것이다. (...) 그렇지만 삼국이 대립하고 있던 시대의 공간과 김부식 당시의 역사의 무대가 같지는 않다.BR 지금까지의 여러 학문에서 자연을 연구의 대상으로 삼기는 했지만, 자연 그 자체에 (적어도 인간의 역사라는 의미와 같은) 역사적인 의미를 부여한 연구는 없었다. 그렇지만 자연이 인간의 역사에 직접적이든 간접적이든 영향을 주어 온 것은 분명하며, 따라서 이제부터라도 자연을 역사의 필수 요소로 인정하지 않으면 안 될 것이다. 『삼국사기』에서는 이러한 관점이 잘 드러나고 있다.BR 자연이 역사의 요소이기는 하지만, 역사는 자연의 역사가 아니라 인간의 역사인 것은 분명하며, 역사의 주체는 어디까지나 ‘인간’뿐이다. 그렇기는 하지만 모든 사람이 역사의 주체로 기록될 수는 없는 노릇이다. 논자는 본 논문에서 주로 역사의 주체가 ‘민중’인지 ‘영웅’인지에 대해서 논한다. 역사에서 민중은 영웅이 없이도 언제나 존재하지만 영웅은 민중이 없이는 탄생할 수가 없으며, 역사에 기록된 영웅이 있다면 거기에는 그 영웅을 영웅이 되게끔 뒷받침한 민중이 함께 있었다는 사실을 후세 사람들은 반드시 의식해야만 된다.BR 한 나라의 왕이건 신하이건, 또는 역사가이건 일반 백성이건 간에 모든 인간은 근원에서는 개개인이다. 개인은 어떤 시대, 어떤 상황, 어떤 위치에 있건 자신이 속한 시대와 시대정신을 뛰어넘을 수 없다. 김부식도 그 당시의 시대적 상황과 시대정신을 뛰어 넘지 못하였다. 아니 어쩌면 그 당시의 시대적 상황과 시대정신을 적극 수용하여 『삼국사기』를 편찬했다고 할 수 있다.BR 대부분의 역사적 사건은 정치와 불가분의 관계에 있다고 보아야 한다. 물론 정치를 제외하고도 역사적 사건의 원인이 되는 것은 다양하게 있지만, 대부분의 역사적 사건은 정치적 사건이라고 할 수 있다. 좀 더 엄밀하게 말하면, 한 국가 안에서 일어나는 모든 일에는 그리고 한 국가와 다른 국가 간에 일어나는 모든 일에는 국가권력인 정치가 크게 또는 작게라도 개입하지 않을 수 없기 때문에, 정치적 사건으로 마무리된다는 말이다.BR 역사서를 편찬하거나 저술함에 있어서 전거의 중요성을 강조하는 것은 두 말할 필요도 없는 기본 중에 기본이다. 그것은 올바른 ‘역사인식’을 위해서 가장 중요한 요소이며, 역사인식의 출발점이다. ‘인식’이란 ‘앎’이며, 역사와 관련해서 보면 앎은 ‘기록의 객관성’에서 시작된다. 이와 같은 관점에 바탕을 두고 논자는 본 연구를 수행하였다. Chu Hsi (1130-1200) exerted a lasting influence on the thought and life of the Chinese in subsequent cent. The core of his synthesis was moral and social philosophy, but it also included knowledge about the natural world. His doctrine of ke-wu (invest. of things) made him mindful of the specialized knowledged in such "scientific" traditions as astronomy, harmonics, med., etc. This study of Chu Hsi's thought gives a systematic account of the basic concepts of his natural philosophy. Also discusses Chu (...) Hsi's actual knowledge about the natural world. And examines the relation between Chu Hsi and Chinese "scientific" traditions and compares his natural knowledge with that of the Western scientific tradition. (shrink)

This article addresses the 2nd Korean consensus conference on cloning that was held by the Korean National commission for UNESCO in 1999. It notes that the citizens participated directly and handled the important social agenda through deliberative process. The consensus conference is another democratic form derived from preference aggregative democracy in the sense that it basically depends on public judgment of the citizens.Compared to other models , it has some advantages: 1. It can solve the problem of political legitimacy. 2. (...) It can check the partiality of expert groups in biotechnology and ethics. 3. It enables us to make informed, responsible decisions. 4. It results in education of citizens’ preference.However, we need to expand the deliberative model. First, we need institutional efforts on behalf of future generations because cloning relates to them. Second, we should not confine deliberation to logical argument, but expand deliberation to include the value of life which cannot be expressed in the form of argument or discourse. (shrink)

We discuss the interrelations between BCK-algebras and posets with difference. Applications are given to bounded commutative BCK-algebras, difference posets, MV-algebras, quantum MV-algebras and orthoalgebras.

In this paper, as an extension of CI-algebras, we discuss the new notions of Neutro-CI-algebras and Anti-CI-algebras. First, some examples are given to show that these definitions are different. We prove that any proper CI-algebra is a Neutro-BE-algebra or Anti-BE-algebra. Also, we show that any NeutroSelf-distributive and Anti-Commutative CI-algebras are not BE-algebras.

In this paper we introduce the concept of d-fuzzy function which generalizes the concept of fuzzy subalgebra to a much larger class of functions in a natural way. In addition we discuss a method of fuzzification of a wide class of algebraic systems onto [0, 1] along with some consequences.

Forecasting blood glucose values for patients can help prevent hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia events in advance. To this end, this study proposes an intelligent ensemble deep learning system to predict BG values in 15, 30, and 60 min prediction horizons based on historical BG values collected via continuous glucose monitoring devices as an endogenous factor and carbohydrate intake and insulin administration information as exogenous factors. Although there are numerous deep learning algorithms available, this study applied five algorithms, namely, recurrent neural network, (...) which is optimized for sequence data, and RNN-based algorithms, stacked LSTM, bidirectional LSTM, and gated recurrent unit). Then, a genetic algorithm was applied to the five prediction models to optimize their weights through ensemble techniques and to yield the final predicted BG values. The performance of the proposed model was compared to that of the autoregressive integrated moving average model as a baseline. The results show that the proposed model significantly outperforms the baseline in terms of the root mean square error and continuous glucose error grid analysis. For the valid 29 diabetic patients for the multivariate models, the RMSE was 11.08, 19.25, and 31.30 mg/DL for 15, 30, and 60 min PH, respectively. When the same data were applied to univariate models, the RMSE was 11.28, 19.99, and 33.13 mg/DL for 15, 30, and 60 min PH, respectively. Both the univariate and multivariate models showed a statistically significant difference compared with the baseline at a 5% statistical significance level. Instead of using a model with a single algorithm, applying a GA based on each output of a model with multiple algorithms was found to play a significant role in improving model performance. (shrink)
