El Portal de Archivos Españoles supone la tercera generación en la informatización de los Archivos Estatales. Está destinado a facilitar a los investigadores y a los ciudadanos el acceso integrado en red a las bases de datos archivísticas de los ocho grandes archivos de titularidad estatal distribuidos por la geografía española, al mismo tiempo que se van incorporando los facsímiles u objetos digitales de los documentos. Al mismo tiempo, PARES elabora una línea de herramientas para la gestión electrónica de los (...) servicios públicos ofrecidos en la red de centros a los investigadores y ciudadanos que acceden presencialmente. Y en tercer lugar, PARES es una plataforma destinada a favorecer todas las estrategias de difusión posibles. Fundamentalmente, la plataforma es a día de hoy un repositorio para la creación, gestión y difusión de los archivos históricos; no obstante, se encuentra en proceso de transformación para adecuarse a los conceptos de “archivos abiertos”, al mismo tiempo que hacia los presupuestos de la Web 2.0. Para ello, se están llevando a cabo diferentes líneas de actuación como es la conversión de PARES en un repositorio OAI-PMH, que permita interoperar con otros sistemas de información archivístico, tanto españoles como internacionales; y se están elaborando nuevas herramientas y estándares para la incorporación de Puntos de Acceso multilingües. Objectives: To examine associations of changing employment conditions, specifically switching to working from home or job loss, with mental health, using data collected during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods: Data from 2,301 US adults in employment prior to COVID-19 were collected April 3rd−7th, 2020. Participants reported whether their employment remained unchanged, they were WFH when they had not been before, or they had lost their job due to the pandemic. Outcomes were symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, loneliness, and positive mental health assessed (...) using validated questionnaires. Linear regression quantified associations of employment changes with mental health outcomes, controlling for age, sex, race, BMI, smoking status, screen time, physical activity, marital status, chronic conditions, and current COVID-19 containment strategies being followed.Results: Compared to participants whose employment remained unchanged, those who switched to WFH did not differ in any measures of mental health. Participants who had lost their job reported higher symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, and lower PMH. Loneliness did not differ between groups.Conclusion: This study demonstrates that concerns around potential adverse mental health effects, particularly increases in loneliness, should not preclude WFH in the general population, while considering each individual's personal circumstances, and the acute adverse association of job loss with mental health. Tailored and sensitive interventions may be required to prevent deteriorations in mental health associated with job loss during periods of societal stress. (shrink)

Purpose With the rapid improvement in digital infrastructure, the popularity of digital devices and smartphones in every pocket, the yearning to stay connected with others has increased manifold, especially in youngsters. This has raised multiple concerns primarily related to the problematic usage of the internet (PUI). The current research study aims to scrutinize the association between PUI, psychological and mental health (PMH), social media fatigue (SMF), fear of missing out (FOMO), desire to disconnect (DD) and its relation with a novel (...) phenomenon of joy of missing out (JOMO). Design/methodology/approach The present research study embraces the empirical research method through quantitative analysis. The proposed theoretical model was empirically tested using primary data, collected through a self-designed structured questionnaire. The study sample included individuals between 16 and 39 years of age as these are the most active demographics on social media. The model is empirically tested with the help of structural equation modeling applied using software IBM AMOS 20.0 and SPSS 22.0. Initially, first-order confirmatory factor analysis was conducted, to measure and test the fit indices of the proposed model. Secondly, path analysis using structural equation modeling was carried out for the model. Findings Empirical synthesis of this research shows that PUI significantly and positively impacts mental and psychological health, FOMO and SMF. Also, SMF significantly and positively affects the DD which significantly and positively affects the JOMO. However, as depicted by the results of this study, FOMO have no considerable impact on SMF. Originality/value A study that connects the PUI with PMH, SMF and FOMO is rare to find. Second, this study uses data collected from social media users of India in the age group of 16–39 years. This slice of the population is most active in internet, and internet-enabled platform and are scantly studied, especially in the Indian context. This makes the study more exciting and crucial. Access to legal information and, in particular, to legal literature is examined for the creation of a search and retrieval system for Italian legal literature. The design and implementation of services such as integrated access to a wide range of resources are described, with a particular focus on the importance of exploiting metadata assigned to disparate legal material. The integration of structured repositories and Web documents is the main purpose of the system: it is constructed on the basis of a (...) federation system with service provider functions, aiming at creating a centralized index of legal resources. The index is based on a uniform metadata view created for structured data by means of the OAI approach and for Web documents by a machine learning approach, which, in this paper, has been assessed as regards document classification. Semantic searching is a major requirement for legal literature users and a solution based on the exploitation of Dublin Core metadata, as well as the use of legal ontologies and related terms prepared for accessing indexed articles have been implemented. La Subdirección General de Coordinación Bibliotecaria del Ministerio de Cultura desarrolla diversas actividades con una repercusión directa en la labor investigadora. Esta unidad desempeña un papel esencial en la catalogación, preservación y difusión del patrimonio bibliográfico que se concreta, entre otros aspecto, en la creación y mantenimiento del Catálogo Colectivo del Patrimonio Bibliográfico Español. La Subdirección ha emprendido la digitalización de fondos y la elaboración de instrumentos de recuperación de cara al establecimiento de grandes colecciones virtuales, como la de Prensa (...) Histórica. Además, ha desarrollado un harvester basado en el protocolo OAI/PHM que permite la captación y preservación de documentos electrónicos. Publica estadísticas que recogen datos de forma exhaustiva y sistemática, necesarios para el estudio de las bibliotecas desde diferentes puntos de vista: biblioteconómico, social, económico o antropológico. Entre sus funciones se encuentran la difusión de estándares para el tratamiento e intercambio de la información y la promoción y consecución de proyectos de cooperación bibliotecaria. Estas líneas de actuación se han materializado en una mejora general y continuada en el acceso a las fuentes de información. (shrink)
