Bu makale, Adudüddin Îcî’nin Kitābü’l-Mevāḳıf adlı eserinde Seyfeddin Âmidî’ye hatalı bir şekilde isnat ettiği, kadîm eserin muhtâr fâile dayanabileceği görüşünü ele almaktadır. Îcî, kelâmcılar ile Meşşâî filozoflar arasında, mūcib bi’z-zāt tanrı düşüncesinin zorunlu olarak âlemin kıdemini, fâil-i muhtâr tanrı düşüncesinin ise zorunlu olarak âlemin hudûsunu gerektirdiği konusunda fikir birliği olduğunu iddia eder. Ancak Îcî, Âmidî’nin bu konuda aykırı bir görüş savunduğunu ve kadîm âlemin muhtâr bir Tanrı’ya dayanabileceğini ileri sürdüğünü belirtir. Makale, Îcî’nin bu iddiasının yanlış olduğunu, Âmidî’nin böyle bir görüş (...) savunmadığını ve fakat bu hatalı isnadın sonraki şerhlerde aktarıldığını göstermektedir. Îcî, Âmidî’nin kasıtla yaratmada eserin müessiri öncelemesinin zamansal değil, îcâb yoluyla yaratmadaki gibi zâtî öncelik tarzında olabileceğini düşündüğünü iddia etmektedir. Yaratıcı ile eser arasında zâtî öncelik-sonralık ilişkisi ise, kadîm bir eserin kasıtla yaratan bir müessirin eseri olabileceğini vurgulamaktadır. Âmidî’nin böyle bir görüşü savunup savunmadığını tespit etmek amacıyla, onun kasıtla yaratma ile îcâb yoluyla yaratma arasındaki temel farklardan biri olan, kastın vuku bulması için maksûdun yokluğunun şart olduğu ilkesini sürdürüp sürdürmediği soruşturuldu. Nitekim, maksûdun yokluğunun kastın bir şartı olduğu ilkesine göre, kasıtla yaratan bir fâilin kastettiği eserin, sadece zâtî değil, zamansal olarak da öncelik-sonralık ilişkisi içinde bulunması gerekir. Ancak Adudüddin Îcî’ye göre, Âmidî tam da bunun aksini mümkün görmüştür. Makale, Âmidî’nin bu ilkeyi koruduğunun gösterilmesi halinde, böyle bir görüşle itham edilemeyeceğini savunur. Bununla birlikte, Îcî’nin isnadına dayanak olabilecek bir başka noktaya işaret edilmektedir. Âmidî, âlemin yaratılmadan önceki yokluğunun ezelî bir maksûd olup olmadığı sorusunu gündeme getirmektedir. Bu çalışma, bu meselenin gündeme getirildiği pasaja dair bir yorum sunarak, Îcî’nin hatalı bir isnatta bulunduğuna dair gerekçeler sunmaktadır. Ayrıca makale, bu hatalı isnadın müteahhir dönem kelâm-felsefe ilişkisi bağlamındaki serencamını takip etmektedir. Burada temsil gücü yüksek müteahhir dönem kelâm eserlerinden verilen örneklerde, Âmidî’ye isnadın temelde Îcî’nin Kitābü’l-Mevāḳıf adlı eserindeki ifadelerinin aktarılması ve yorumlanmasından ibaret olduğu görülebilir. Bu çalışmada, Cürcânî’nin, Âmidî’nin pseudo-görüşünü destekleyen kişilerin bulunduğuna işaret ederken, aslında ön plana çıkması gereken kişinin Âmidî değil, muhtâr ve mûcibi uzlaştıran Nasîrüddin Tûsî olması gerektiği iddia edilmektedir. Tûsî, İbn Sînâ’nın bazı ifadelerinden esinlenip mūcib bi’z-zāt kavramını genişleterek, Zorunlu Varlık’ın “dilemeseydi, yapmazdı” anlamında muhtâr olduğunu ama dilemediği bir durumun gerçekleşmediği için eserinin kadîm olduğunu savunmuştur. Bu uzlaştırıcı yaklaşıma, İbn Kemâlpaşa gibi düşünürler tarafından mûcib nazariyesine dinî meşruiyet kazandırmak suretiyle atıfta bulunulmuştur. Pseudo-Âmidî ve Tûsî’nin uzlaştırıcı müdahalelerinin bir izdüşümü de Molla Câmî’nin ed-Durretü’l-fâḫire’sinde nazarî tasavvufun yaratma teorisi olarak formüle edilmesidir. Molla Câmî, sûfîlerin Pseudo-Âmidî’ye dayanarak muhtâr olup da eseri kadîm olan bir yaratma nazariyesini benimsediklerini iddia eder. (shrink)

Cinsiyet gelişim bozukluklarını/CGB (hermafroditizm/interseksüalite/hünsâlık) İslamî biyoetiğe göre inceleyen bu makale, merkeze İslam hukukunu konumlandırarak CGB’li bireyler için dü-zenlenen dinî normların ardında yatan etik değerleri yansıtmaktadır. Makale, İslam hukukunda erken dönemlerden itibaren cinsiyet gelişim bozukluklarıyla ilgili normlar düzenlenirken etik değerlerin de dikkate alındığını iddia eder. Bu bağlamda makalenin kategorizasyonunda tarihsel ayrım tercih edilerek klasik dönemlerden çağdaş dönemlere İslam hukukçularının cinsiyet gelişim bozuklukları konusunda dikkate aldıkları etik değerler vurgulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak klasik İslam hukukunda cinsiyet gelişim bozukluklarına etik yaklaşımın daha çok insan (...) onurunun gözetilmesi ve mahremiyetin korunması amacıyla olası psikolojik komplikasyonların engellenmesi bağlamında şekillendiği saptanmıştır. Zamanla yaşanan tıbbî gelişmeler, CGB’li bireylerin bedenlerinden karşı cinse ait dokuları uzaklaştırma imkanı tanıyınca İslamî etik değerlerde bir kırılma yaşanmıştır. Klasik dönemlerde, olası psikolojik komplikasyonların engellenmesi şeklinde gelişen etik yaklaşım, cinsiyet düzeltme operasyonlarının hükmü, helal olması halinde delilleri, dinî meşruiyet parametreleri ve aydınlatılmış onam doktrini gibi daha çok CGB için tıbbî bakım standartları geliştirmeye evrilmiştir. 19. yüzyıla kadar kitlesel ölümlere sebep olan salgın hastalıkların başında, veba ve kolera gelmekteydi. Tüm dünyada olduğu gibi Osmanlı Devleti de bu hastalıklardan çeşitli dönemlerde büyük ölçüde etkilenmiştir. Osmanlı’da karantina uygulaması ve genel temizlik kurallarına uyulmasıyla hastalıkların üstesinden gelinmiş, Avrupa’daki ilaç ve tedavi çalışmaları yakından takip edilmiştir. Hem halkın hem de idarecilerin bilgilendirilmesi için son derece önem arz eden Osmanlı basını, salgın hastalıklara geniş yer vermiştir. Hastalığın kontrolü her ne kadar karantina ile sağlanmaya çalışılmışsa da karantina sürecine hadislerden hareketle dini (...) bir meşruiyet atfedilerek sürecin daha sağlıklı bir şekilde yürütülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Dolayısıyla modern tıbbın önerileri dini kaidelerle güçlendirilmiş ve hastalıklarla maddi ve manevi unsurlarla topyekûn mücadele edilmiştir. Osmanlı’nın son dönemlerinde basında hastalıklarla mücadelenin inanç kültürü kısmını oluşturan dini referans noktası hadis, dua ve rivayetlerden oluşmaktaydı. Bu çalışmamın çerçevesini dini konularla siyasi meselelerin bir arada işlendiği İslamcı süreli yayınların hastalıklarla ilgili kaleme alınan yazıları oluşturmuştur. (shrink)

Bu çalışma Machiavelli’nin politik düşünceleri ile devlet aklı öğretisi arasında kurulan sürekliliği tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır. Machiavelli’nin teolojik ve aşkın meşruiyet unsurlarına gönderimde bulunmadan fiili güç ilişkilerini kavramaya yönelen politik öğretisi onu modern politikanın başlangıç figürü haline getirmektedir. Politikanın fiili gerçekliğiyle kavranarak ahlaki ve dinsel olan karşısında özerkleşmesi, insani etkinliği politik olanın merkezine taşımaktadır. Geleneksel yoruma göre Machiavelli’nin etik-politik görüşleriyle politikanın yapay ortaklığına dair bu vurgusu, devlet aklı kuramının klasik formülasyonunu oluşturmaktadır. Düşünürün vefatı sonrası öğretisinin bütünsel olarak Makyavelizm kavramına indirgenmesi bu (...) kavrayışı güçlendirmektedir. Ancak ahlaki ve dini olanın politika karşısında yadsınması anlamına gelen devlet aklının ilksel formları bu teorik zeminle örtüşmemektedir. On altıncı yüzyılda, devlet aklı kuramını kavramsal hale getiren Botero Machiavelli’nin öğretisiyle zıt perspektif ileri sürmektedir. Botero, Machiavelli’den farklı olarak politikanın, ahlak ve din karşısında özerkliğini sorunsallaştırır ve birbirleriyle uyumlu hale getirmeye çalışır. Çalışmamız bu doğrultuda ilk amaç olarak devlet aklı kuramının on altıncı yüzyıl bağlamında Machiavelli sonrası problematiklerini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. İkinci bir amaç olarak bu çalışmada Machiavelli’nin devlet anlayışının, Makyavelizm ilkesi ve devlet aklı kuramıyla ilişkisi ele alınacaktır. Bu iki tartışma hattının serimlenmesi Machiavelli’nin politik öğretisinde ve yaşadığı dönem içerisinde devlet aklı kuramıyla ilgisinin düzeylerine işaret etmeye olanak sağlayacaktır. (shrink)

This paper offers an account of the ship of Theseus paradox along the lines of the so-called nonstandard primitivism about vagueness. This account is inspired by a model of the ship of Theseus paradox offered by Dinis that considers near-equality, in the context of Nonstandard Analysis, as the proper way to model the `same as' relation. The output is a class of models which unifies the semantic account of vague gradable adjectives recently proposed by Dinis and Jacinto with that of (...) the `'same as' relation. It does so by taking both paradoxes to arise from a confusion between relations of marginal difference between vague degrees and ``"small'' precise relations between the things that have those degrees. We show how to interpret weak Kőnig's lemma in some recently defined theories of nonstandard arithmetic in all finite types. Two types of interpretations are described, with very different verifications. The celebrated conservation result of Friedman's about weak Kőnig's lemma can be proved using these interpretations. We also address some issues concerning the collecting of witnesses in herbrandized functional interpretations.

We propose a new theory based on the notions of marginal and large difference which has natural models in the context of nonstandard mathematics. We introduce the notion of finite marginality and show a representation result which ensures, for finitely marginal countable models, the existence of a homomorphism of the structure of marginal and large difference into a nonstandard model of the natural numbers, and show the extent to which any such homomorphism is unique. Finally, we show that our theory (...) constitutes part of the underlying abstract structure of three distinct philosophical theories of vagueness: Dean’s neofeasibilism, Itzhaki’s theory of nonstandard heuristics, and our own initial sketch of a nonstandard primitivism about vagueness. In the context of nonstandard analysis, the somewhat vague equality relation of near-equality allows us to relate objects that are indistinguishable but not necessarily equal. This relation appears to enable us to better understand certain paradoxes, such as the paradox of Theseus’s ship, by identifying identity at a time with identity over a short period of time. With this view in mind, I propose and discuss two mathematical models for this paradox.

Background: Electroconvulsive therapy is one of the most effective treatments for major depressive disorder. Recently, there has been increasing attention to evaluate the effect of ECT on resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. This study aims to compare rs-fMRI of depressive disorder patients with healthy participants, investigate whether pre-ECT dynamic functional network connectivity network estimated from patients rs-fMRI is associated with an eventual ECT outcome, and explore the effect of ECT on brain network states.Method: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data were (...) collected from 119 patients with depression or depressive disorder, and 61 healthy participants, with an age mean of 52.25 years old. The pre-ECT and post-ECT Hamilton Depression Rating Scale were 25.59 ± 6.14 and 11.48 ± 9.07, respectively. Twenty-four independent components from default mode and cognitive control network were extracted, using group-independent component analysis from pre-ECT and post-ECT rs-fMRI. Then, the sliding window approach was used to estimate the pre-and post-ECT dFNC of each subject. Next, k-means clustering was separately applied to pre-ECT dFNC and post-ECT dFNC to assess three distinct states from each participant. We calculated the amount of time each subject spends in each state, which is called “occupancy rate” or OCR. Next, we compared OCR values between HC and DEP participants. We also calculated the partial correlation between pre-ECT OCRs and HDRS change while controlling for age, gender, and site. Finally, we evaluated the effectiveness of ECT by comparing pre- and post-ECT OCR of DEP and HC participants.Results: The main findings include depressive disorder patients had significantly lower OCR values than the HC group in state 2, where connectivity between cognitive control network and default mode network was relatively higher than other states, Pre-ECT OCR of state, with more negative connectivity between CCN and DMN components, is linked with the HDRS changes. This means that those DEP patients who spent less time in this state showed more HDRS change, and The post-ECT OCR analysis suggested that ECT increased the amount of time DEP patients spent in state 2.Conclusion: Our finding suggests that dynamic functional network connectivity features, estimated from CCN and DMN, show promise as a predictive biomarker of the ECT outcome of DEP patients. Also, this study identifies a possible underlying mechanism associated with the ECT effect on DEP patients. (shrink)

In this paper we work in an arbitrary o-minimal structure with definable Skolem functions and prove that definably connected, locally definable manifolds are uniformly definably path connected, have an admissible cover by definably simply connected, open definable subsets and, definable paths and definable homotopies on such locally definable manifolds can be lifted to locally definable covering maps. These properties allow us to obtain the main properties of the general o-minimal fundamental group, including: invariance and comparison results; existence of universal locally (...) definable covering maps; monodromy equivalence for locally constant o-minimal sheaves – from which one obtains, as in algebraic topology, classification results for locally definable covering maps, o-minimal Hurewicz and Seifert–van Kampen theorems. A sua opinião sobre figuras como Copérnico, Kepler e Galileu. e sobre o decreto dos cardeais que condenou a hipótese heliocêntrica tem sido vista até hoje com suspeita e cepticismo. O mesmo se pode dizer acerca do seu contributo para a ciência moderna. Este artigo procura iluminar a complexidade do trabalho científico e das posições (...) teóricas de Riccioli no contexto cultural de uma mudança paradigmática que tem um grande número de semelhanças com as transformações culturais que se estão a verificar na transição para o século XXI. /// Giovanni Battista Riccioli has been a controversial author of the XVIIth century, especially as to his stand on the polemic over heliocentrism. His mind both on figures such as Copernic, Kepler and Galileo, and on the cardino text of condemnation of the heliocentric hypothesis has been viewd until now withe suspicion and scepticism. The same may be said as to his scientific achievements. This essay aims at sheding some light on the complexity of Riccioli's work and views in the cultural context of a paradigmatic change that has quite a number of similarities with the changes that are taking place at the dawn of the XXIth century. Costituisce un contributo essenziale all’elaborazione del mito dello Stato moderno, con i suoi caratteri di universalità realmente operante nel disciplinamento sociale e individuale, ma anche con i limiti e le contraddizioni (...) che neppure la forma del mito riesce a nascondere: crisi e guerra (civile e tra le nazioni). Il saggio intende mostrare come nell’ambito dell’ attività intellettuale di Marsilio Ficino, volta a superare la divaricazione tra sapienza e religione attraverso il recupero della tradizione platonica ed ermetica, la riflessione sull’uomo non si limiti a mettere in evidenza la presenza del divino nell’uomo e la possibilità della mens di attingere la realtà intelligibile, ma si estenda ad altre importanti tematiche. Tramite il costante confronto tra l’uomo e gli animali, Ficino illustra la condizione umana, sottolinea la differenza tra libertà dell’agire (...) e determinismo naturale, si sofferma sulla relazione natura-cultura, caratterizza la religione naturale come prerogativa esclusiva dell’uomo. In line with Kripke’s strategy for explaining the contingency illusion of theoretical identities (and for the alleged failure of the type-type identitative materialist strategy), while an explanation is available for the illusion of contingency in the case of theoretical identities, in the case of alleged psychophysical identities of types, an analogous explanation is not available. Nagel argues that there (...) are the following two explanations: that of the two types of imagination and that of the tripartite essence of pain or of the fixers of the reference. Este artigo buscou analisar alguns aspectos discursivos na obra Tenda dos Milagres, de autoria de Jorge Amado. Parte da percepção de que a discursividade religiosa que permeia a discursividade literária de Jorge Amado apresenta uma simbolização e ressignificação dos processos identitários, culturais e sócio-históricos próprios da matriz africana. Logo, adotando alguns dos procedimentos da análise do discurso sob uma perspectiva foucaultiana, o objetivo foi, por meio das práticas de subjetivação e objetivação, perceber as subjetividades que envolvem as vozes que emergem (...) no discurso religioso, o candomblé, na obra Tenda dos Milagres. As análises oportunizaram a constatação de que os silenciamentos e as subjetividades produzidas nos locais de moradia e no Candomblé constituem sentidos nos movimentos na e da história, na composição dos sujeitos do discurso e suas identidades, demarcando resistências e lutas que preservam a cultura, etnicidade, manifestações de fé e de pertencimentos dos sujeitos-personagens da obra desse escritor baiano. Cross-cultural understanding stands as one of the great pillars of multicultural education and yet rarely do multiculturalists provide a full account of what it is and how it takes place. This paper will serve as an initial investigation into the complex nature of cross-cultrual understanding. Drawing on the philosophical hermeneutics of Hans-Georg Gadamer, I will layout the framework for a theory of understanding and provide a concept of culture that avoids the pitfalls of essentialism and instrumentalism. I will then raise, (...) as the backdrop for my examination, the issue of authenticity in the hip hop world. This will allow me to put these hermeneutic theories to work by illuminating the interpretive process through which a hypothetical middle-aged teacher might go about gaining an apprecitaion for rap music to better understand his suburban students who, for him, embody hip hop culture. This phenomenological account of cross-cultural understanding will in turn raise thought-provoking questions about human agency, translation, and the various implications of cross-cultural understanding in the classroom. IntroductionTranscranial magnetic stimulation is a consolidated procedure for the treatment of depression, with several meta-analyses demonstrating its efficacy. Theta-burst stimulation is a modification of TMS with similar efficacy and shorter session duration. The geriatric population has many comorbidities and a high prevalence of depression, but few clinical trials are conducted specifically for this age group. TBS could be an option in this population, offering the advantages of few side effects and no pharmacological interactions. User location prediction in location-based social networks can predict the density of people flow well in terms of intelligent transportation, which can make corresponding adjustments in time to make traffic smooth, reduce fuel consumption, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help build a green cycle low-carbon transportation green system. This paper proposes a Markov chain position prediction model based on multidimensional correction. Firstly, extract corresponding information from the user’s historical check-in position sequence as a position-position conversion map. Secondly, the influence of (...) check-in period, space distance, and other factors on the position prediction is linearly weighted and merged with the position prediction of the n-order Markov chain to construct MDC-MCM. Finally, we conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation of MDC-MCM using the dataset collected from Brightkite. Experimental results show that compared with other advanced location prediction technologies, MDC-MCM achieves better location prediction results. (shrink)

Its central aim is to democratise scholarship by highlighting diverse voices, ideas, and places. It is organised into three sections, each examining ethics from a different perspective: ethics and education historically; ethics within institutional practice, and emerging ethical frameworks in education. Important questions are raised and discussed, such as the role of past ethical traditions in contemporary education, how educators should confront ethical dilemma, how schools (...) should be organised to serve all children, and how pluralism, democracy, and technology impact ethics in education. Musa Yanık, bu kitapta günümüzdeki en güçlü yaklaşım olan reform epistemolojisinden güvenilircilik bakış açısıyla yani “daha yüksek bir olasılıkla doğru olması yönünden” İslam inancının rasyonelliğini ortaya koymakta ve uygulamalı dini epistemolojinin sağlam ve cesur bir örneğini sergilemektedir.
