Objetos simples
Abstract
This essay will discuss if the simple character of an object constitutes a primitive fact, or it is a fact respect of which one can give some explanation. In this work I will do a general review of the different criteria that have been given to provide an explanation to the simple character of the objects, which have been presented by Kris McDaniel in his work "Brutal Simples" and published in the Oxford Studies in Metaphysics, Vol. 3. McDaniel distinguished three types of criteria: a) spatial; b) of indivisibility; c) fundamental. It will be presented briefly each of these criteria and the arguments for which they are rejected by this author. Then, I will give some principles of realist conception of metaphysics of properties as a way to save the fundamental criteria from the critics of McDaniel, redefining the ontological modal space by non mereological forms.
