Abstract
In the preface of Bioethics: The Basics, Alastair Campbell states that the challenge of writing such a book is to “describe the complexities of the subject in an accessible style.” I believe on the whole the author succeeds in meeting this challenge. Though there have been numerous books written on the topic of bioethics, this book makes a valuable contribution to the area, as it builds on previous literature and also incorporates new theories and challenges in the area of bioethics. It is a concise and definitive introduction to bioethics and it studies in detail a variety of contemporary issues in bioethics, including the relationship between ethics and modern technology and the theoretical background of bioethics. The book caters very well to those who are beginning their studies in bioethics and also is suitable as a reference tool for those more familiar with the area.This book is well structured.
