Abstract

Hiding behind a benign title and expressed in deceptively noncommittal prose, Stephan Körner's Metaphysics: Its Structure and Function is a book with a radical purpose. It wants no less than to show that everyone is committed to a "metaphysics" in Körner's sense; to determine once and for all the scope and limits of this metaphysics. Is Körner really the Last Metaphysician? We shall see.
