Abstract
How similar are the philosophies of Quine and Wittgenstein? Quine himself invites speculation on this topic by remarking, "Perhaps the doctrine of indeterminacy of translation will have little air of paradox for readers familiar with Wittgenstein." And quite a number of philosophers, in passing comments or at greater length, have taken up the invitation. This collection is a useful continuation of the debate. The papers are of somewhat uneven quality, but most contain something of interest, and some are excellent.
