Abstract

The paper examines the origins and the development of the first philosophical journal – Filosofický sborník – established and published by the Philosophical department of the national cultural institution Matica slovenská. The specific character of the journal was determined also by the fact that its publishing house was the first philosophical non-university institution in Slovakia . The attention is paid mainly to the professional and ideological ambitions of the periodical, which have changed dramatically several times during the time of its existence. The reasons of these changes were of external as well as of internal character
