Abstract

This chapter offers an introduction to The Oxford Handbook of Modality and Mood. It briefly sketches the background of research on modality and mood and it explains the rationale behind the present volume. It lays out the principles that have been followed in composing the Handbook and that have been used as instructions for the authors of the individual chapters. And it presents an overview of the contents and organization of the chapters in the volume.
