Abstract

Descriptions of musical or acoustic events in terms of Proportional Theory, are one of the most significant features in the Pythagorean mathematical tradition. This article emphasizes its fundamental aspects, its progress in the Euclidean conception and, with the Philological analysis of some of its more important definitions, allows appreciating its philosophical weight.
